Paraty · Costa Verde · Brazil
Chalé Bel Air sits on a rainforest ridge above Paraty. From the deck you look out over the Bay of Paraty, across to Angra dos Reis, and out to Ilha Grande — all in a single sweep.
The view
At roughly 400 metres of altitude, the chalé hangs above the green coast where the Serra do Mar drops into the sea. On a clear morning you can trace the schooners leaving Paraty's pier, count the islands scattered toward Angra dos Reis, and watch clouds drift across the long ridge of Ilha Grande on the horizon.
It is the kind of view people take a boat trip to find. Here, it is what you wake up to.
The pool
The infinity pool runs to the lip of the deck, so the water seems to pour straight into the bay far below. Swim at sunset and the whole surface turns coral. Swim at night and the lights of the coast take over.
Inside the chalé
Down the hill
Paraty is one of Brazil's best-preserved colonial towns — a grid of whitewashed houses and rough cobblestones between the mountains and the water, closed to cars and busy with schooners, cachaça bars and live music.
From the chalé you get both worlds: the quiet of the forest at altitude, and the town's restaurants, boat pier and historic centre waiting below.
